Why I hate Scientology
Now first let me say I know this story is based on a gossip type article but please hear me out first.
First off scientology is NOT a religion. Anyone who believes so is just nuts which also means you are a scientologist. Second does anyone else find it out that when you "choose" to become a scientologist you are monitored 24/7? Seriously what is that all about? Now I know scientology purposely tries to recruit celebrities to get their word out but in my honest opinion Tom Cruise is a moronic mouthpiece. He spouts off at the mouth on any subject that goes against scientology thinking and uses evidence given to him by scientologists and only scientologists. Yeah that is real scientific buddy.
I also heard about how scientologist mothers should not make any noise, like groaning or yelling during childbirth because it might traumatize the baby. Is it any surprise that this "religion" was created by a man?? Oh and let us not forget that after you give birth you should not speak to the baby for two weeks again so the baby is not traumatized. Let me see how this works, as the baby is growing in the mother's womb he or she can hear the mother's voice, heartbeat etc. Once he or she is born it is submerged in utter silence. And this is supposed to prevent the baby from being traumatized?? Oh yeah I see how that works. IT DOESN'T!
I am sure there are many other points I can make to point out the craziness of this whole scientology thing and in fact I probably will. So in fact I am going to entitle this post Why I hate scientology Part I because scientology is so damn idiotic that it deserves more then one post. Eventually.

i have to agree with everything that is written about the so called religion of scientology. its just a cult. like that one group who all dressed the same and all committed suicide on the same day. not much difference both so called religions are out to lunch.
Mind control is not religion. What a bunch of baloney believed by people who want to think they are special and know the secrets of the universe. It is just plain old gnosticism -- except you have to pay to be a member.
So many people can't believe that there is a God, who loves us and cares about us so much he sent his only son to set an example of how we should be. To love others, etc., yet people are quick to believe that we came from some planet to be killed by an H-bomb by some alien called Xenu!!! Don't understand where these folks brains are!
scientology is just plain wrong. the way they conduct themselves is not aceptable. their recient fight against the BBC for their broadcasting -- i have watched both sides.. and i have to agree with the Beeb on this one. the way they followed sweeney around! that guy was a loon with the shade... and the big ass car!! what a nutcase. no wonder sweeney cracked! people keep watching him yell but then again i'm suprised he didnt punch the neo- wannabe since he kept following him and putting words in peoples mouths and disagreeing with john sweeney even asking anyone else how they felt that their religion (or as so they see it) was mentioned as a cult by others!!! i dont get why the scientologist kept saying 'how dare u'... erm how dare u what.. ask a question?
anyhow i do suggest if u havent watched it to watch both sides and make up ur own mind. im angry that scientology has a base in my home town. i dislike their methods of sucking people in who are vunerable and often curious to what the 'church' is all about.

I'm a very normal person.. and I hate everything this money maker represnts..its a cult for the wealthy that have nothing else to do with their lives. People that have lost the path to a non materistic(money) lifesyle.................... So those folk out there that are trying to preach. It's incredible that people like Tom Cruise and John Travolta (who can read), believe in a religion that is younger than Elvis Presley. Xenu, Tethans.. You have to be kiding me. I would like to see a bell boy walking into a scientology office and ask for information. They would kick him out in a second. This cult is strictly about taking cash from stupid people.

i dislike scientology. its a darn hoax.. and its just idiotic!! Scientologists have no reall common perception of the world. they have no power over the world..they pay a bunch of money for a load of crap that isnt true... ron l hubbard was a science fiction writer.
I understand why everyone hates scientology and I am not a scientologist.
Although I am trying to find out about it and as far as I can see, it is hard to read articles from people who are anti scientology because they are very aggressive about it.

Maybe you would prefer a society where choice is prevalent to the extent of having 'evil cults' as a choice but I enjoy a society where it is legal and not confirmed as a 'hate group' to voice out personal opinions on factors that appeal or give us distaste.
Scientology as a religion; people will think of as a cult and will form personal choices on how to view this religion as myself; I find it utterly ridiculous.

We can believe it completely but belief of use of this money is not the point. The point is the religion, unlike any other religions, encourages and puts forward the most incredibly horrendous notions, which we all as humans, can generally agree upon as complete stupidity.
Its is not our capacity to not believe but our anger, which of course is naturally derived from values, of the qualities that one is supposed to have when in this religion. Most religions, let me say, will have the foundation values of goodwill and honesty towards others whilst this one is supposedly preparing one to have superpowers. How can you call us mindless haters when we are merely holding anger for a so called religion that forces crimes and mind control upon people. Its called Humanwill, good sir.

I support your right to dislike religions and to use derogatory speech to describe those religions. I'm not advocating that you should be legally prevented from doing this. In fact, I agree with you: I'd rather live in a society where people were allowed to hate religions than a society where it was made illegal.
And yes, you are voicing an opinion. But isn't the KKK voicing an opinion when it preaches hateful things about blacks? Is the Westboro baptist church voicing their opinion when they bash homosexuals? How are those groups any different than people who post topics like this blog "Why I Hate Scientology."
In my opinion, i feel that people who hate scientology rely on pretexts to differentiate themselves from classic hate groups. If you don't like being called a hate group, then don't create or support threads called "Why I hate Scientology."

Oh, but the use of the money IS the point. This is a classic anti-scientologist justification for hating scientology. And it's a ridiculous idea because it completely ignores the idea that people should have the right to spend their money however they want.

Unlike any other religion? Are you insane?!? I encourage you to read a book on other religions and the damage they have done and continue to cause in society.
And so what if there views are stupid? That's a matter of perspective and is no justifcation for hatred or intolerance. How would you feel if laws were passed makign it illegal to be part of a religion with views the majority of society found "stupid"? Would you be okay with that? The groups truly in need of religious tolerance and protection aren't ones that the majority of society agree with. It's those minority religions with unpopular views who are the intended targets of religious protection.
Thankfully, people are allowed to believe things you find stupid. Again, I find subscribing to anti-scientology to be stupid, but I support your right to do so and won't get in your face about it until threads are posted like this one.

Again, anyone who dislikes any religion will say the same crap. An atheist will tell you that all religions are mind control. Someone who hates mormonism will tell you that it's an oppresive "cult" that brainwashes its congregation.
Here is the reality: just because you think people are brainwashed does not, in fact, make it so. People choose to join religions and raise their children in that fashion. People choose to enslave themeselves with unnecessary and ridiculous rules. I personally don't subscribe to any religious belief, but I think it's wrong to single one out for disproportionate mal-treatment for the same reasons applicable to all religions.
I apologize for coming across as rude or arrogant, tone is hard to capture in cold messages on the internet. I do appreciate your viewpoints.

Your comments seem to contradict one another. You advocate for freedom of religion and speech, yet you patronize the blog for doing just that, expressing a right to freedom of speech. These people did nothing to you and I find it rather pretentious to lecture a forum on religious freedoms. Nobody said that Scientology should be illegal.
If you take a close look at the internet you will find countless forums that criticize Atheists, Catholics, Mormons, and etc... Are you posting in all of these forums about freedom of religion as well? Why this one in particular?

I agree with Scott and Patrick, and am also an atheist / agnostic.
Yes Scientology is a stupid and evil cult but then so is Christianity, Islam and all the rest (some more than others). But all of these religions offer their own idiotic ideas:
1. Creationism vs. Evolution
2. Donations and televangelism
3. Tax exemptions for all these churches, mosques, temples etc.
4. We were all created by a flawless being who for some reason left evil and imperfection on the earth
5. When you die you can go to heaven if you led a good life (stupid because a tiny mortal life is not enough to judge a person for all eternity and god already knows the outcome so why bother testing0
6. You could also go to hell to face eternal punishment for doing wrong or not believing in god who conveniently never gives any signs of his existence
7. God (or gods) preform miracles for some people and leave other in terrible states (go to the terminal ward at you hospital)
8. Whenever God gives someone a mission he always tells them silently and away from everyone else, rather than speaking to everyone at once (he is god after all)
9. Why not just kill Satan or whatever he's called in other religions. There is no purpose to having a tempter to man. Remember god created everything, therefore he created all things bad as well. Why bother leaving temptation in.
You can also see the Teapot argument and the books of Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. They all give very good explanations against the existence of god.
But i got off topic here. All i wanted to show was how there really is no difference between these cults and religions. People do crazy things for their religions all the time (crusades, inquisition, 1972 Munich, Bombay Riots, 9/11 etc. etc.)and yeah the Scientology folks are crazier than most but guess what:
We live in a place with freedom of relgion. They can believe whatever they want
And as far as this thing not being a hate group. Using Scott's agrument. Can you imagine what the reaction would be if you said Why I hate Muslims or Why I hate Blacks or even Why I hate Christians? I could give dozens of reasons why one could hate any group but choose not to.

Scientology is a criminal organization. They hypnotize people who are just initially curious about it and then re-hypnotize them again and again. Perfectly normal people may fall under this hypnosis never to come out of it. Tom Cruise for example used to be a perfectly normal stable person who got captured like this. It is very dangerous to go to their initial free auditing session as this is where the initial hypnosis happens. The e-meter they use is a tool which just like a swinging pocket watch helps in the process. There are other cults like this masquerading as religions but scientology is the most vile of them all.

Scientology centers need to be closed down. It's an occult. religion is adopted by individuals by choice Scientology is not a religion it's a science. Scientology = science + technology. The science is the application of proven successful studies of task orientation in the malicse application of manipulation introduced and eventually imposed onto vulnerable individuals, The technology is the advances made in understanding human behavior and the reaction. To protect the process of the desired development to reduce the fight and flight functions of the individual in order to sustain and subdue the member from natural logical processes of thought they needed to retain constant connections with like minded individuals in order to receive reflective rewards of acceptance and comfort in which is offered by a desirable Mother figure to a child.
